The story

The story Scream 2 is a sequel of the First movie, where Sidney was hunted by a killer. A few years later she’s now at the university and left her hometown and all that happened behind her, but it stills follows her because Gale Weathers turned the murders into a book. This book was made into a movie called Stab and the premiere of the movie makes all the headlines, because two people get murdered. Sidney and Randy (from the first movie) realise that he could be coming after them next and don’t really feel safe. Not only them think that the murderer could be behind them again, also the media with Gale Weathers on top, think the same. She is quiet happy with all the commotion because it means more attention for her book and the movie. Everybody is convinced that there’s a new serial killer on the loose but who’s the next victim and who’s the killer?

Acting skills

In this movie there are quiet a few famous actors, some of them were at the start of their careers of some of them where already famous. You got Sarah Michelle Gellar, who’s know of the show Buffy The Vampire Slayer, who plays here the part of student Cici. But you also got the actor Jerry O’Connell who’s know for the show Sliders and the movie Mission to Mars. Also Jada Pinkette-Smith plays a part in the movie. She’s of course the wife of Will Smith and know for the movie Matrix. And we have Portia de Rossi know for the show Ally McBeal and wife of Ellen Degeneress. Quiet a few know names, but quiet good acting. Neve Campbell plays the part again of Sidney. Luckily the same actress plays the lead again, so you feel formiliar with the story. I liked her perfomance again and she looks scared with the idea of again a murderer but also annoyed. Also Courtney Cox is back as Gale Weathers and this time i liked her more. She looks even more arrogant and more selfsecure, because of the success of the book and the movie. Nice perfomance of Courteney.

Extras

There are a few extras on the dvd but nothing special unfortunately, which makes the DVD feel cheap. Since the first movie was a huge success, you would think they could have spent some money on putting some extras on the DVD, but suppose extras weren’t really a popular thing to do back then. You only got some information about the actors in the movie.

My opinion

A nice easy to watch horror movie and I liked the way they turned the murders of the first movie, into a movie in this movie called Stab! A good excuse for the makers and a good focus point during the movie where another killer is on the loose and is trying to kill Sydney. But this movie does look a lot the same as the first movie, only with the locations and some of the people that are different, but the main cast is back. The murderer looks the same, so it’s really the locations that are different. But of course it’s about who’s the next victim, who’s the killer and will he manage to kill Sidney this time? Just as the first movie, this movie isn’t good because it’s original or the quality of the movie. But it’s more because its dramatic and funny looking with a lot of dramatic killing. It’s an easy to watch horror movie with famous people, what more do you want?
